Message	Between the package tray and the metal is about 1/2" of sound damping material. I have done this to mine: And am currently working on replacing this with four 6.5" components, this setup (2000W just to the 6x9's) is way too overpowering, lost sound balance. Also fiberglassing the center console (dog-house) and doors for some speakers. Its all necessary to hear music over the four 12's installed in the back.
